Screen printing on bottles in large volumes will only be viable in the long term by using UV curable inks or at low temperature curing paints and by printing at higher speeds. Due to the new European regulations, heavy metals will no longer be allowed in enamels. Rosario responds to the changing demands of the market and to the quality demands of the customers of screen printed glass articles which have become more severe.
Printing with UV curable inks is competitive in price with other decoration methods because less ink is laid down for any given artwork, a decorating lehr is not required and , most critically, Rosario offers the UV technology for high speed printing on the Rosario PLS servo-UV screen printing machine.
Rosario has developed UV printing technology to suit a number of suppliers’ inks, focussing on the Rosario high speed print machine together with the appropriate bottle pretreatment. The transfer of this technology and know-how is available to the printing industry and training is available at the customer’s site or in-house at Rosario working with a pilot scale unit.
